After giving birth to my first child around 40, I was looking for a creative alternative to help me get back into shape and increase my energy level. After talking to friends in Los Angeles who had taken similar classes I researched thoroughly to find a similar class in the Richmond area. After seeing the ad for Studio X, I went to the Web site and saw the wide variety and scheduling options for the classes. With my desire for fitness combined with that of my friends, I realized I also had a lot of hesitation as to what the classes would be like.
I had visions of thin, sexy young ladies with “well endowed” assets, prancing about and hanging from various apparatuses, which would have dissolved what small amount of self-confidence I have been desperately holding onto since having my daughter. Let’s face it; bouncing baby weight in Lycra is not the most attractive thing. But after seeing that one of the instructors, Kate was close to my age I felt a little better about taking the classes. I ensured my friends that it would be a “one for all, and all for one” situation and after a bit of cajoling, we agreed to try.
After one class, we were hooked. Kate is delightful, personable and very professional. Her method of teaching is one of “try at your own pace”. The class size is small and you develop a team mentality as you progress thru the individual class or series of classes. The classes are surprisingly aerobic, and give you a full body workout without undo stress or overdoing it in one particular area. You never feel pressured or overwhelmed. You are encouraged to try each move at your own individual ability.
What more can I say, I have lost over 8 pounds since starting in just 2 months. And I feel great. My energy is up and I feel so much better about myself. I cannot recommend Kate and Studio X enough. I feel every woman should at least try a class or two. They will be amazed.
